Question. When trooping can I use a saber that I wasn't approved with? Or can I add an additional saber to my costume?

I was approved with this:

But would like the option of being able to use this one as well:

costumes are always a work in progress -- we are always making minor changes and modifications to our costumes.

IF we always re-submitted our costumes to the judges, for EVERY modification we make, then the judges would be completely overwhelmed indeed -- our LCJ's have enough on their plate as it is.Wink LOL

that is why, there IS a built-in mechanism in place, to handle ongoing modifications to your costume -- and that mechanism is, your base CO.

consider: even with entirely "new" costumes (costumes that are not yet submitted/approved AT ALL)... you can STILL wear these costumes to events (if you want to "test drive" your new outfit to see how it works, for example)... but you can ONLY wear unapproved costumes if you get a "day pass" from your base CO.

--> your base CO has the power/authority to grant temporary approvals for everything, from a new lightsaber, to an entirely new costume.

and Yes! after a while, once you start replacing TOO many parts on your costume (new lightsaber + new boots + new tunic, etc) then your base CO WILL eventually say to you "...you know what? this isn't really the same costume anymore, please re-submit your entire costume to the judges for approval..."

and THAT is when you WILL need to send your entire costume back to the LCJ team for judging....

....but if you're just swapping out your lightsaber (or buying a new pair of boots or whatever) then PLEASE don't send your entire costume back to the judges for re-approval -- as I said -- the judges ALREADY have enough on their plate as it is. Wink LOL

please seek approval from your base CO:

- if your base CO says your new saber is fine, then you're good to go.

- if your base CO tells you to re-submit the entire costume to the LCJ team for approval, then THAT's what you need to do.

it's your base-CO's call to make.

(your base CO has the power/authority to grant 'temporary' approvals for everything, from a new lightsaber, to an entirely new costume).

hope this helps. cheers.

also , note: it works both ways.

consider:

for those who -never- update or replace ANY parts of their costume....

...your base CO STILL has the responsibility to ensure that all members are wearing costumes which meet the standards, on a troop-by-troop basis.

so, for example... lets say your belt wears out over time... or your tunic "shrinks" in the wash, so it no longer covers your backside... or your robe gets coffee stains on it... (or your saber goes from blue to red)...

your base CO can demand AT ANY TIME that you must re-submit the ENTIRE costume back to the judges for re-approval.

IF your base CO feels that your costume does not meet the standards, (for ANY reason), then the base CO has the power/authority/&responsibility to send your costume back to the judges, at ANY time (for ANY reason).

this all falls under the same umbrella:

it is the base CO's JOB , to make sure everybody's costume is "Acceptable", on the day when they show up to troop.

(this is WHY , they have the power/authority , to approve your new lightsaber!!) Cool LOL

cheers!

For face characters, probably not. You will have to use the lightsaber and blade color approved with that character due to the unique look of some sabers and blade color requirements of that character.

For Generic Jedi, you can probably change sabers and blade color, as long as the requirements are met.
